What is Botox

Botox is a drug that doctors have been using for many years to treat wrinkles and facial lines. Botox is actually a brand name of a toxin made by the bacterium clostridium botulinum. There are other brands, such as Dyspory and Xeomin. Botox is the term you hear most often as it was the first injectable botulinum toxic.

How does Botox work

Botox blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles, this stops the muscle from being able to contract. That makes wrinkles relax and soften.

How long does Botox last

The effects of Botox can last from 3-6 months. As muscle action slowly returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and will need to be treated again. The lines and wrinkles will often appear less severe with time because the muscles are shrinking.

When will I see results

You will start to see the results from your Botox injections around 3-10 days, the full effect will be around day 14.
You will be invited back after 14 days for a review appointment if you are not 100% satisfied with your results. Your practitioner will then examine the areas treated and offer a free top up if needed.

Botox aftercare

• Do not lay flat for 4 hours
• No makeup for 24 hours
• No steam room, sauna, exercise or hot shower/bath for 48 hours
• Keep the area clean
• No facials of any kind for 2 weeks
• No sunbeds for 2 weeks
